Acetylene (C2H2) – a colorless, flammable gas with a garlic-like odor. Acetylene has the highest flame temperature of any common hydrocarbon, its high flame temperature allows it to be used in a variety of metal working applications like cutting, welding, brazing, and soldering.

Propane (C3H8) – a colorless, flammable, liquefied gas. Propane is primarily used in heating applications and as fork truck fuel. Propane is also used in heavy steel fabrication for heating and cutting.

Hydrogen (H2) – Hydrogen is a flammable, colorless, odorless, compressed gas at high pressure. It is mixed with air to form the fuel gas for FID gas chromatography (using zero grade) and is sometimes a carrier gas. It is used in the manufacture of silicon wafers and computer chips. Other uses are annealing and heat treating of metals. In the welding process hydrogen provides high heat conductivity and reducing properties that makes it a valuable shielding gas for stainless steel. Mixtures of hydrogen are often recommended to increase compatibility with certain materials.
